Technology quality and accuracy

How we leverage technology to benefit you

By implementing innovations such as translation and localization tools, we ensure that our clients benefit from translation accuracy, quality, and speed.

Evolution

As relevant science and technology began to expand on a global scale several decades ago, translation became an indispensable ingredient for international success.

The translation industry has benefited tremendously from technological advances and has kept pace. When Microsoft, Google, eBay and Twitter — to name just the biggest — are interested in developing and improving language technology, the industry listens and follows.

Far from replacing humans, technology has become an essential tool to help meet the growing demand for quality translation. A human factor in the loop has become indispensable, from highly specific domains to providing that “human edge” that no artificial intelligence (AI) solution can provide.

Technology at the service of languages

AI used in the translation business is of inestimable value, providing content management systems; project management tools; human resource management tools; computer-aided translation tools; glossary and terminology database management; plus formatting, layout, transmission, storage, instant global communication.

Specific tools for website globalization, software and mobile application localization have opened up new lines of business. AI is of paramount importance in the future development of the language industry. It is paving the way for new directions to meet the needs of the new customer base.

Beyond the basic day-to-day tasks, AI and other technologies have also opened our doors to a vast array of competent translators around the world who specialize in different areas and work with less common languages.

The standard and AI processes

To ensure accuracy, the STANDARD translation process has three critical steps:
  1. Initial translation by a specialized, professionally trained translator of each target language;
  2. Proofreading by a second subject-specialized, professionally trained translator of each target language; and
  3. Proofreading of the file for spelling, punctuation, grammar, and formatting.

With increasing improvements, the process USING AI can now look like this:

  1. Initial translation by specific AI for each target language;
  2. Editing by a specialized, professionally trained human translator of each target language; and
  3. Proofreading of the file for spelling, punctuation, grammar and formatting.

Benefits from AI

Clients benefit from AI implementation in the translation industry through:

  • Faster turnaround times;
  • On-time product releases;
  • Higher levels of accuracy;
  • Consistency across media and brands;
  • Improved quality;
  • Lower prices; and
  • Services that meet real needs, whether it is just AI for internal use, OPI (Over the Phone Interpreting), or simply managing your content for translation.

Problems with AI

While humans cannot match the speed of AI, the software can still make comical and critical mistakes which reflect poorly on your organization if used for customer-facing marketing (websites, brochures, manuals, etc.). In most cases, AI:

  • does not work well with complex sentence structures in any language;
  • does not work well with less common languages;
  • cannot get nuances, idioms and colloquialisms right;
  • has no way to make cultural adaptations to the text when needed. These include revising concepts to find an equivalent in the target culture and converting measurements, among other obstacles.
We use professional human translators at all levels of the process in these cases.

Combo solutions

AI should never be used alone without professional human translators for anything related to Law, Medicine, Marketing, Sales, Safety or critical technologies.

Our AI translation and technology processes ensure that our clients are more competitive and successful in the global marketplace, regardless of their industry.

In reality, we can do at least 120 languages but we prefer to be modest. Instead, we are pleased to present just the top 80 into which we translate, interpret and localize. In addition, we provide many dialects such as Canadian French, Argentine Spanish or UK English for translating, and Mandarin and Cantonese for interpreting which we don’t even count as part of our list. Need others not shown? Please ask—our linguistic translation professionals just might surprise you!
