\nEvery language has expressions. And AI captures most, but not all of them. For example:\u00a0\u201cJ\u2019ai la p\u00eache\u201d in French literally means \u201cI have the peach.\u201d But it can also mean \u201cI feel good\u201d which AI versions don\u2019t provide. In English, \u201cI feel like a spring chicken\u201d means that I\u2019m feeling young and vibrant. But put it into Google Translate and you will get a literal translation, which other languages would never use and simply makes no sense.\u00a0Branding expert\u00a0Rey Perez<\/a>\u00a0asked us to translate his book about marketing in which he wrote, \u201cReady to rock and roll.\u201d Put that into Spanish with AI and you get the literal translation, \u201cListo para rock and roll\u201d which has nothing to do with the correct meaning of \u201cLet\u2019s go\u201d or \u201cLet\u2019s do this.\u201d\u00a0And as mentioned last month, if a Spanish-speaker tells his doctor that he is \u201cintoxicado,\u201d he will likely be treated for drunkenness instead of the alternative meaning of \u201cfood poisoning.\u201d Huge difference there!\u00a0The point of all these examples is that AI has its limits and always will. If you want the gist of what something says, AI works fine in many languages.\u00a0But if you want your book, contract, manual, health report, video or website translated accurately, AI\u00a0must\u00a0<\/u>be done in combination with professional linguists who understand the intent and any needed cultural adaptation, not just the words, of the source language.
