That is somewhat like sending your marketing in Cockney English. What does that say about your company\u2019s reputation for excellence?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>A Polish distributor of a telecom client reviewed our translated Polish manual\u2026. and returned it with lots of spelling and grammar mistakes. Had it been printed without our final revision, what would that carelessness have said about the client\u2019s image?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>A US semiconductor firm allowed its Beijing distributor to create the company\u2019s documentation in Chinese. But the US firm learned later that many concepts were not properly translated\u2026 such as saying \u201ccookie\u201d for \u201cwafer.\u201d<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>A Vietnamese employee in a client\u2019s US office made lots of edits to our manuals\u2026 but she originated from a village and spoke a rural dialect, not the standard \u201ceducated\u201d language. Had the client accepted those edits, its credibility in Vietnam would have been severely damaged.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>A US real estate firm used software or an in-house translator to say that a house was located \u201coverseas\u201d. The Spanish translation became \u201caltamar\u201d which means \u201con the high seas.\u201d Not quite the meaning of \u201cabroad\u201d \u2026.\u00a0 and not the best location for a house!<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>An industrial saw company asked its Mexican employee to review our brochure translation, then printed it, and sent it to Mexico. The distributor totally rejected it. What happened? The US company\u2019s Mexican employee only had a 4th grade education\u2026 not the most reliable reviewer for high-level industrial terminology.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>A prestigious hotel \u2013 on Jean St. near the Flood Tower &#8212; used Google Translate to prepare its website in 50+ languages to attract international clients. This created such classic phrases as \u201cwe are located at Saint John near the tower of inundations.\u201d<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"\">\n<table width=\"100%\" cellspacing=\"0\" cellpadding=\"0\">\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<td bgcolor=\"transparent\"><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The 4 Risky Scenarios Who&#8217;s Controlling Your Message?
