How It Works
Frequently Asked Questions
A certified translation is a translated document accompanied by a signed Certification of Translation from the linguist or translation company. The certificate states that the translation is complete, accurate, and that the translator is competent in both languages. Certified translations are required by USCIS, courts, universities, and government agencies for official use. Auerbach International provides certified translations accepted by all U.S. government agencies and most international institutions.
Notarization is NOT required by USCIS for immigration applications. However, some courts, states, and foreign governments may require notarized translations. Check with the requesting agency or your attorney to determine if notarization is needed. Auerbach offers notarization services for a nominal fee through our network of notary publics.
Document translation pricing depends on language pair, complexity, and turnaround time. For example, printed birth certificates from or into Spanish are among the most affordable translations. Certification is included. Handwritten original files will require longer completion time and additional cost. We provide all-inclusive quotes within the same day or 1 business day after receiving your files — with no obligation.
Standard turnaround is 1 business day per 2000 words, depending on size and desired languages. Some files can work faster. Rush service is available and may incur an additional surcharge. We do not normally charge rush fees for ongoing clients, nonprofits, etc. Same-day service may be available for documents under 1,000 words. Turnaround time depends on document length, complexity, and language pair. We provide the exact delivery timeframe in every quote … and always meet our commitments.
We accept all common document formats: PDF, Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, images (JPG, PNG), InDesign, Publisher, etc. For scanned documents or images, we use OCR to extract text, then translate and reformat to match the original layout. Complex formats like InDesign or Publisher are also supported.
Yes, within reason. Our desktop publishing specialists ensure the translated document matches the original layout as closely as possible —including fonts, formatting, headers, footers, tables, images, and visual elements. However, some languages such as Spanish, French and German require more words than English while others like Chinese and Korean usually require fewer words and use different fonts. Right-to-Left languages like Arabic and Hebrew will be reformatted to their standards. If you must maintain a specific format or page count, please contact us.
For official documents like birth certificates or diplomas, we recreate the layout to preserve the official appearance.
All translators sign comprehensive Non-Disclosure Agreements (NDAs) before accessing your documents. Files are transferred via encrypted protocols (SFTP, secure portals with password protection). Documents are stored on secure servers with restricted access. For highly sensitive documents or work under attorney-client privilege, please contact us.
Yes, but with limitations. Handwritten documents are more difficult and time-consuming to translate because handwriting legibility varies. If handwriting is illegible, we will note areas we cannot decipher in the translation. For best results, please provide a typed transcription of the handwritten text if available.
We do not directly provide apostille services, but we can coordinate with apostille service providers on your behalf. An apostille is a certification that authenticates the origin of a public document for use in foreign countries that are members of the Hague Apostille Convention. Apostilles are issued by the Secretary of State in the state where the document was issued. We can refer you to trusted apostille service providers.
