Spanish Translation

Spanish Translation Excellence. You may have tried the rest. Now try the best.

Auerbach International’s expertise in language localization services and Spanish language translation is demonstrated by our thousands of projects, attention to cultures, exemplary results, great testimonials, and highest standards of excellence.

Whatever your product or service, targeting 400 million Spanish speakers worldwide and 51 million in the US alone is a near necessity… and can help your bottom line.

  • What revenue are you losing by not targeting Hispanics in the US?
  • What revenue can you gain by targeting Latin America and Spain?

Remember: 400 million Spanish speakers are an enormous revenue stream.

Auerbach International offers targeted dialect translation services that provide the language edge that your company requires to differentiate itself from the rest — whether from English to Spanish or Spanish to English. Since the language reflects your image, why settle for anything less than the best?

Kudos on our Spanish projects

“I’m impressed by the quality of the translation… you don’t even find that perfection in catalogs where the native language is Spanish.”
~ Marketing Manager for a water pump company

“The Cadbury policy harmonization committee was so impressed with your Spanish translations that they asked us to have all their HR policies translated. Kudos to you and your team for winning over this hard-to-please crowd.”
~HR Benefits Administrator

Spanish for where?

Spanish has two primary blocs: Latin American and European (Castilian). While technical terminology is usually the same across countries, daily-life vocabulary differs dramatically. For example, a tambo is a type of basket to transport liquids in Mexico and El Salvador, a type of shelter in Peru, and a whorehouse in Argentina.

Spanish: Differences in Usage

Some idioms such as “to have a good time” have different genders: masculine in Spain (“pasarlo bien”) and feminine in Latin America (“pasarla bien”). Gender differences also extend to nouns such as the masculine “el Internet” in Spain and “la Internet” in Latin America.

Latin America prefers the simple preterit tense, “Hoy me levanté a las 6”, whereas Spain employs the compound preterit, “Hoy me he levantado a las 6.” Both have the exact same meaning: “Today I woke up at 6.”

Some terms such as “pararse” (“to stand”) deemed acceptable in Latin America are considered archaic in Spain, which uses “ponerse de pie”.

Latin American Spanish permits more English and foreign influences in its vocabulary than European Spanish:

  • These <> are used in Spain, whereas Latin America uses “these” or ‘these ‘. Despite these differences, their usage is exactly the same across continents.
  • Argentina, Paraguay and Uruguay are known for using the pronoun “vos” instead of “tu” for “you.” This is critical when targeting specific Latin American countries but not if you are targeting a generalized Latin American population in the United States.

All those “local flavors, hues, and subtleties” are carefully considered during the language localization service process, which helps us convert your US products and/or services into the most comprehensive Spanish promotions possible while leveraging all these increasingly growing markets.

Whether your file is aimed at teenagers in Puerto Rico, business execs in Mexico or nurses in Argentina, Auerbach International employs the professional resources to tailor your message to your audience.

Visualize your projects converted into various Spanish versions to make them both usable and useful in Spain and Latin America. Now that’s an appealing idea!

Fastest Deliveries Humanly Possible… and Discounts

Over 30+ years ago, Auerbach International pioneered and perfected the art of the fastest deliveries … without jeopardizing the quality or meaning. Companies worldwide rely on us when their deadlines are tight and millions of dollars are at stake. And we have achieved many miracle deliveries that other agencies thought impossible … as shown in our Success Stories.

We use the latest Translation Memory tools to capture your preferred terminology and cycle those approved terms again on future projects. Not only do your projects maintain consistency but you can also benefit from discounts on repeated text.

Our Process and Commitment to Quality

To maintain familiarity with your vocabulary, for all your projects we strive to use the same linguist teams — accredited and experienced native linguists who are also experts in your industry terminology. Plus, your professional-level projects go through at least three phases:

  • An initial, professional translation reflecting the terminology of your industry
  • QA review by a second professional translator
  • final proofing for spelling, punctuation, grammar and formatting …
    all to ensure that you get a result translated and reviewed by the best.

Need Desktop Publishing for your brochures, manuals or graphics? Our professional layout teams work into all programs and can even make your English template accommodate the 20% more words that Spanish usually requires. After layout, we do another proofing to ensure that the final product is perfect.

Award-winning Client Satisfaction

Auerbach International remains the only language agency in all North America to be three-time winners of the independent ValueStar award for client satisfaction. Over 100 clients were independently interviewed each year. The results? We received an over 95% approval rating each time.

We enjoy talking to you, and are totally committed to personal attention for our targeted dialect translation service or any other linguistic service. We confirm receipt of your projects rapidly, and we will never grow too big to ignore individual needs and personal requests. We like to treat your project as importantly as you do.

Cultural Assessments to Ensure Success

If your time frame permits, our global marketing teams review your English text to see whether its appeals for the Anglo market work equally well for your target Spanish market.

For example, are you emphasizing cost savings when your Spanish audience more highly values your product’s impact on the family? If so, we could rewrite your text in English first before it is translated.

We can certainly render your stated concepts into Spanish. But if those concepts do not appeal to a Spanish audience, more than the meaning will get lost in translation. For some of the industries we have served, please click here.

Frequently Asked Questions

We translate, interpret, layout, dub or transcribe in over 80 world languages If you can name it, we almost certainly can do it or have already done so for many years. We also ensure that your project goes into the dialect or terminology of your target market, such as French for Canada or Portuguese for Brazil.

Absolutely. Please see Website Localization.

Since 1990. Long enough to anticipate what problems or issues a project might entail and to prepare accordingly.

Most documents of 3000 words and under (around 12 typed pages) can be translated within 24–48 hours. Longer documents take a bit more time, as do special care translations such as ad copy which require more creative input between translators and clients to properly acculturate the text. Layout and print-ready output as well as website and localization projects of course also require extra time.

Most of our translators are certified by the American Translators Association or equivalent bodies in other countries and have the highest professional qualifications. Certification, however, does not guarantee quality, speed or knowledge of your industry terminology. Only experience does. Some certified translators do not meet our own standards, whereas some with deliberately lapsed certifications but years of experience certainly do. Most of our translators have worked with us for many years and are very familiar with the quality and speed we demand. For legal cases or depositions, we will always provide court- or Federally-certified linguists. We also provide certified interpreters at large conferences to maintain the highest professional standards. And we certify translations whenever required.

Not everyone who is multilingual can be a translator and not every translator can translate every document. At Auerbach International, your project will only be translated and edited by professional translators skilled in the subject. For example, if you need to translate instructions for a vinyl polysiloxane bite registration material into Greek, Danish and Dutch, we will only use translators familiar with Dentistry.

Likewise, if you need a technical document on wine fermentation translated into Simplified Chinese, we will only use highly qualified translators who also speak “Winemaking”. We have very high standards for our translators, editors and proofreaders, and we take great pride that we can translate any document into any language with the shortest turnaround time in the industry.

All our translators, editors and proofreaders sign confidentiality agreements with us for every assignment. At your request, we will be happy to provide you with a confidentiality/non-disclosure agreement stating that Auerbach International – including its employees, translators, agents, and contractors – – will do everything in their power to maintain the confidentiality of your document at all times.

Cantonese and Mandarin are only SPOKEN dialects of Chinese. They do not correspond directly to written systems used in different countries or areas. For example, Cantonese is spoken mostly in Southern China, Hong Kong, and by many North American Chinese, whereas Mandarin is spoken in Northern China (Beijing), Taiwan and Singapore. The two writing systems are Traditional characters and Simplified characters.

Documents should be translated into Traditional characters if they are targeted at Hong Kong, Taiwan or domestic US markets, and Simplified characters for Mainland China and Singapore. Chinese people will look at a character and pronounce it differently based on their spoken dialect. But the spoken character is written in either Traditional or Simplified style based on what country your project is targeting.

Computer translation programs do help professional translators. They can also be helpful where “lay” people just want to get the gist of a document. But a professional translation still needs to be reviewed by a speaker of that language. For example, a software-generated translation which we had to correct had rendered “a board meeting” into Chinese as “a collection of planks of wood.” An accurate rendering but not quite conveying the correct meaning. At Auerbach International, we use only skilled, native speakers in the translation and editing process to ensure top quality translation. Computers simply cannot get the nuances that a human native speaker can.

We like to receive your entire file so we can evaluate it for discounts for repeated text and other issues.

Translation rates are based upon word count of the source text, formatting, technical difficulty and a required delivery timeframe (standard or expedited, as our quotes specify). Interpreting, website engineering, layout, and proofing are charged by the hour.

A small project management fee is also added to each job. All quotes are free, and most projects can be quoted within 24-48 hours.

We routinely work on both Macs and PCs and deliver all projects by email or file uploads. If your computer cannot read non–Latin characters such as Arabic, Russian, Japanese, Chinese or Thai in a .doc (Word) format, we will deliver the files either in Outlined EPS or in PDF format. Those effectively open as would normal graphics files.

Yes. We have a network of literally hundreds of qualified, experienced, native interpreters, both court-certified and non-court certified. When you need an interpreter, we request that you provide the date, time and place the interpreter is needed; which language and dialect skills are needed (such as Mexican Spanish); and the subject to be covered. Please allow maximum lead time when scheduling interpreters; talented interpreters’ schedules often book up days or weeks in advance!

Consider: Businesses in Texas come to us for translations into Mexican Spanish and firms in New York come to us for languages they could easily find in their backyard. These clients keep returning because they have experienced the superior quality and award-winning, personalized service which Auerbach International provides. Click here to read what our clients have said about us. No matter what time zone, Auerbach International can provide the world’s fastest turnaround times without sacrificing quality.

In addition to translating, interpreting and Desktop Publishing, Auerbach International can provide you with:

  • Localizing websites and software into 80 languages;
  • Transcribing videos and audio files;
  • Dubbing and subtitling;
  • Name evaluations to ensure no target-country gaffes before you spend millions on marketing;
  • proofing of others’ translations;
  • interpreting by telephone 24/7 in 240 languages; and
  • acculturation to be sure that your message is adapted for your target audience.

And since translating is one piece of a larger pie, we can also provide:

  • Countries you can expand into; and
  • Strategies, negotiation points and cultural cues to ensure successful market entry.

Please also note that a portion of all profits are contributed to the Auerbach Global-Impact Foundation to help millions of non-profits around the world to become more effective, and to broaden and deepen their services to humanity.
